With over 20 years of experience distilling and recycling solvents, Republic Services makes it easy for customers to recycle spent NMP (N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone) used in their lithium-ion battery manufacturing process.
Our NMP Recycling Program
NMP is used to dissolve nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC) powder. Once the NMP powder has been released onto the electrode plates, the material is cooled, condensed and collected as a waste by-product. Battery manufacturers may use 10,000 - 20,000 gallons of NMP per month.
