And that’s exactly what we’re doing! From upgrading community kitchens to building outdoor classrooms, we’re stepping up to strengthen the places we call home. Sure, it’s about the new plants, fresh coats of paint and safer playground equipment — but it’s also about working side by side with community members to create safer, more vibrant places for people to live and enjoy.
It all comes back to one goal: By 2030, we aim to create sustainable neighborhoods for 45 million people through strong community partnerships. And we’re well on our way. With our National Neighborhood Promise® (NNP) program, we’re teaming up with local nonprofits and community changemakers to turn that vision into real, lasting impact — one neighborhood at a time.
In this post, we’re excited to share how our 2025 NNP projects will help enrich the places we call home.
Transforming Communities One Promise at a Time
We know that when we come together, we can transform neighborhoods — and the quality of life for residents — in a big way.
NNP is more than just a grant program. Fueled by volunteer projects and monetary and in-kind service donations, our NNP program helps breathe new life into the community spaces that matter most — parks, playgrounds, community centers and more. These revitalization projects are a true team effort; we partner with community leaders, our NNP grant recipients and Republic Services employees who volunteer their time and energy to benefit their local communities.
Here’s a glimpse into some of our recent NNP projects:
Central Georgia | We revitalized a 7.5-acre community park by installing an ADA-compliant playground, splash pad and walking trails
Murfreesboro, TN | We completed a community-wide cleanup and created a brand-new outdoor classroom to support STEAM learning programs
New Orleans, LA | We renovated a women and children’s shelter by transforming a parking lot into a playground, turning a storage building into a community room and adding facility-wide beauty and function with new paint, landscaping and other improvements.
Phoenix, AZ | We helped complete a major kitchen renovation at The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which will enable the organization to continue providing meals to local people in need.
Our 2025 NNP Grants
This year, we awarded NNP grants to 14 nonprofit organizations across North America. These grants will positively impact more than 2 million people by delivering lasting, tangible community improvements, ranging from upgraded shelters and accessible playgrounds to restored trails and improved learning programs.

Anchorage, AK
Enhancing trail restoration and improving accessibility at North Bicentennial Park while engaging the community members through workforce training, youth and volunteer programs
Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, Inc.
Decatur, AL
Constructing a 1,272-square-foot home as a homeowner empowerment center and providing skill-building workshops and hands-on home ownership training in English and Spanish
UMOM New Day Centers
Phoenix, AZ
Renovating the courtyard at the emergency shelter and supportive services facility to create a play and gathering space for more than 300 children and their families
St. Francis Center
Los Angeles, CA
Providing a large commercial freezer, pallet storage and other facility improvements to increase community food rescue and distribution capacity
Arvada Community Food Bank, Inc.
Arvada, CO
Developing a new, accessible, eco-friendly facility with a welcoming shopping area, expanded food storage, childcare room, loading dock, added space for recycling and composting, Neighbor Connection Center and more
Trust for Public Land
Greeley, CO
Transforming a vacant lot into a vibrant pocket park with a safe, welcoming garden and shaded outdoor classroom
Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago

Detroit Horse Power
Detroit, MI
Developing the nation’s largest urban equestrian education center — with new furniture for the facility, which will be used for their summer camp and programming — on a 14-acre former school site
Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley
Ypsilanti, MI
Improving West Willow Park with ADA-accessible parking, a youth basketball court, soccer goals, shaded seating, exercise stations and upgraded signage
Montana Food Bank Network
Missoula, MT
Constructing the Volunteer Repack Room to more than double volunteer capacity and improve food distribution efficiency
Foundation for the Reading Public Museum
Reading, PA
Installing public Wi-Fi to enhance programming and access to educational opportunities
Larry J. Macaluso Elementary School PTO
Red Lion, PA
Replacing the existing playground with ADA-compliant, sensory-friendly structures and accessible walkways
Agape Ranch
Corpus Christi, TX
Installing a contemplation garden — with labyrinth maze and sensory playground — and perimeter fence for the Agape Ranch neighborhood, which helps keep foster siblings together if they can't be placed in the same foster family
Play for All
Round Rock, TX
Developing an all-inclusive play area — complete with a recycling truck slide that empties into recycling sorting lanes for different waste streams — to teach children about recycling, renewable energy and sustainability
